Cross stitch up-date and a finish !!!

Happy Dance  - the giraffe is finished. It will take a while before I can frame it, as it will need a special frame because of the size - but never mind. I really enjoyed stitching the giraffe.

Here is my progress from NH afghan from last week. Not a lot done, it doesn't show anyway. The flowers contain so many different colours - it's unbelievable.
And here is the new project which will go into the rotation instead of the giraffe. It's my wedding picture - the one where I had all the problems earlier when I had it charted by DMC and they did it in black and white. However, thumbs up to DMC - they've changed for me to full colour without problems. So here we go. This is proper confetti stitching, the first time actually that I'm doing proper confetti like this.

(Nearly) finish - Giraffe

I have been stitching like a mad woman last week on the giraffe. And it is finished - well, apart from the backstitching. Whenever I come to the end of a project I always stitch like mad!

I haven't been blogging a lot in the last two weeks, indeed, I haven't been online a lot. I am still at home, but say my Consultant in the hospital last week, and they are happy with my progress and discharged me from their care. The Consultant was very happy with his handiwork LOL. Tomorrow I'm going to see my GP to get a 'Return to work' Certificate for next Monday, but than I'm on annual leave for 9 days - so my time at home is coming to an end. In an strange way, I am looking even forward going back to work. It's just a shame that work takes too much of the time of the day... so there won't be that much time left for cross stitching and blogging and Internet groups.

The other news is that I bought myself a new car- a Vauxhall Astra Estate.  I started to get slight problems with my old Vauxhall Corsa - nothing major, it's been a good car. However, it is now 8 years old, and I thought I'm going to see a car dealer to see how much money they could offer me for it. And the offer was good (I did my research before!) so I decided to go for a bigger car which we need really with 3 children and now also the dog - that's why the Estate car. I can pick it up on Saturday - can't wait!! It's an Automatic again , I do have a manual licence, but since I've driven my first Automatic some years ago there is no going back for me - for me at least, a sooo much more enjoyable drive. Here is the link to my new car, pictures will follow on Saturday.

Giraffe mother and baby update

*smile* I'm impressed with myself! I've made serious progress on the giraffe in last week's rotation. That's what can be done if I have enough time for my hobby! Obviously, being at home and with nothing else to do, I devoted several hours a day to cross stitch. The picture on the right shows how it looked last Monday.

I have to say that the fabric is lovely to stitch on and I would like to declare it my favourite fabric at this stage. And it is Aida - I've never thought I'd say that, Aida my favourite fabric. It is 18ct, and it's lovely to stitch on, and the appearance is really lovely as well, and 2 strands of thread give perfect cover. It makes such a difference to the 'large' appearance 14ct, so much so that I will probably change the fabric in many of the kits I have. Only 'problem' is of course that the picture will turn out much smaller.

Some x stitch updates

-- Post From My iPhone

10. January 2010. OK, not an enourmous amount of stitching, but still, some updates to show. I really start to like the way the giraffe is coming out, so lifelike. NH afghan - this is square 6/30.

Giraffe

And here the latest update on the giraffe from last week . Again, doesn't look like great progress, but I've moved on to the 2nd page! I find the thread really inferior, it keeps breaking and splitting apart - what a bum!!

Here is my progress from last week. 'Giraffe Mother and Baby' from Dimensions. Mother's neck is nearly finished, and next time on this piece I'm ready to start on the body.. it is surprisingly easy to stitch and I'm not yet bored of all the browns. It looks so realistic, that's what I like. Some of the colours are mixed e.g. 1 strand of 350 and 1 strand of 397 etc, and with those longer threads, I find that they start to come apart nearer to the end, so quite poor quality thread in the kit I guess (?). So it's either working with shorter threads to reduce the friction, or knotting when they tear - annoying.

Cross stitch update

I have been neglecting my cross stitch in a big way in the past few weeks. And my friend Jo has taken to it big time - finished her first piece in less than 4 weeks. Well last week I had the ,Giraffe, from Dimensions in my rotation for the first week and as the progress picture shows I've hardly worked on it though I think the shape of the giraffe head is already recognizable! I've just been toooo busy last week for cross stitch - did a lot of gardening (I made a herb bed), playing with the phone for the last 4 days and of course looking for a camera. I would really like to get more seriously into photography (as a hobby) and do a lot of research into beginner DSLR camera's. Veerey confusing. Here is the picture of the giraffe, only a snapshot taken with the iPhone though.

A finish and a new start

Happy Dance! I have finished Mirabilia's Spring Queen. It must have taken me around 3 years, but of course, it was only part of my rotation, and at times, I had to put it on hold completely for urgent other stuff such as wedding samplers etc. But boy, it turned out so beautiful at the end. The dreaded beading was really easy actually, and took me no longer than 2 weekends. I couldn't stop stitching this weekend actually, its always like that when the end is near LOL.

And here is the new kit which goes into the rotation: 'Giraffe and baby'from Dimensions. Ruby loves giraffes, so for a while, I collected cross stitch of giraffes to go in her room. At the moment, her room is full of Hannah Montana and High School Musical though;-))
